Offensive Line Quickness Drill - The De La Salle Tennis Ball Drill

Tennis Ball Drills for Offensive Linemen

This is a drill used by many teams to get their offensive linemen quickly to get the ball. I learned it from Concord De LaSalle High School in California. Yes, the school had the 151 game winning streak. This is a great drill for youth football coaching guys as well.

The de Lasalle football coach rightly believe that the key is to play for the big offensive line to ever your first steps 2faster than the opponent first 2 steps. I noticed the speed of the De LaSalle linemen came from the ball was amazing for inclusion in a nationally televised speech game with Evangel High School in Louisiana. While the Gospel had a number of Division I prospects on their offensive line and averaged over 50 pounds per man as De La Salle, De LaSalle just dominated the line.

This is a drill to use, they have youth football teams successfully used to play online and improveSpeed:

Share your linemen into two groups, the right of the center in a line on the left side of the center in another. Have the players at the top of the line of her first two steps can be done quickly and perfectly, step stepping inside at 60 degree angle to the inside of the knees to his chest, all the time loading the hands on the sides to "Six Shooter" level . The second step in the same corner come very quickly after the first step was taken down. In a second step, would be done with knees bent, and when the foot is the forearms come to deliver the blow with his shoulder.

Once these steps have been repped, we add in the coach with the tennis ball. The car is in a 60 degree angle to the inside of the offensive linemen and about 1 meter 60 degrees along this path away from the player. On the snap, the offensive linemen are among his first step as above described, and then takes its second step along the line of the car withthe above technique. The coach on the snap count, the ball drops straight down from a height of 3 meters or so. The linesman has his perfect 2 steps with the right technology and with the tennis ball before it touches the ground. Vary the distance and height to force their offensive linemen, the drill, to develop their individual potential speed.

We change our center in both lines, as it is necessary to step in both directions. This is a drill, we bring in 4-5 weeks after ourChildren have mastered the basics and we are working on building advanced skills. It is to drill a large variety, it works and the kids love it.

Look how this football drills will help your offensive linemen get the ball more quickly and allow them to receive their second step-down faster than their opponents. In this way you can run your football plays with greater precision and effectiveness when combined with proper blocking technique.
